About the event

Now Is the Time for a Community Conversation on AI Data Centers and the Environment

Guest Speaker - Joseph Piatt, PhD., professor of Chemistry and Environmental Science, Carroll University will speak on "Environmental Impacts of Data Centers in Wisconsin"

The use of artificial intelligence and data storage is driving the need for new data centers across the United States. Wisconsin is no exception.

Many communities across our state are being asked to build new data centers as a source of economic opportunity. With most proposal details hidden behind non-disclosure agreements and the state offering limited regulatory guidance, communities are left to fend for themselves to determine the costs and benefits.

Joe's presentation will review the demand for data centers in Wisconsin and their environmental impacts, including power demand, water demand, land use, and economic drivers.
