WCGT Recycling Bin Blitz

Waukesha, WI (April 1, 2011) - The Waukesha County Green Team in cooperation with the Waukesha County Recycling and Solid Waste Office is organizing a Recycling Bin Blitz during the week of April 16-23, 2011.

Volunteers will be handing out free blue bins with recycling instructions at various schools and businesses throughout the county. The goal of the event is to honor Earth Day by encouraging more households to recycle more materials.

Not only does recycling decrease materials going to landfills, but it also generates income. The county receives about $1 million in revenue from the sale of recyclables from the Materials Recycling Facility, which is passed along to the 25 communities in the county’s program. More recycling means more revenue.

Blue recycling bins are free to those residing in the following communities: Brookfield (city and town), Big Bend, Chenequa, Delafield (city and town), Dousman, Eagle, Elm Grove, Hartland, Lac La Belle, Lisbon, Merton (town and village), Nashotah, New Berlin, Oconomowoc (city and town), Oconomowoc Lake, Pewaukee (city and village), Summit, Wales, and Waukesha (city and town).
