GO "Fermentation Fest"

volunteer opportunity

"The event will be held at Serenity Farms in Merton.

  • Set up and break down of booths for participating vendors.
  • Parking help
  • Farm tour guides."

Some light lifting.

If they want to brush up on "Fermentation" processes, they can participate in some of the workshops.

Also, looking for musicians for the event.

We are also doing a "call" for artists.  Anyone can participate. 

The medium has size restrictions.  The artwork can be any medium as long as it fits a 5" x 5" x 5" space.  Either a 5 x 5 canvas or paper, or if it's 3D, it needs to stay in a 5" cube. 

 All proceeds of the money collected on this art work will go to the Lake Country Agriculture and Nutrition Alliance, "LCANA", which is working with the OASD to introduce active agriculture and food nutrition into the curriculum.

They will be featured at the Fermentation Fest in the Barn Art Auction.

St. Joan of Arc/St. Catherine Garden Committee

Garden of Eat'n harvesting 

Description of event/

volunteer opportunity

The garden committee was developed as part of the Human Concerns Committee of St. Joan of Arc/St. Catherine parish. The produced raised is given to 7 different food pantries in the area.

Assistance is needed for harvesting the vegetables, weeding and composting.

Physical requirements

of the activity

Students need to transport themselves to and from the garden, located on the St. Joan of Arc grounds in Nashotah.  Students will need to work within a garden setting to weed, pick vegetables, water, and turn compost. Garden gloves and interest in raising organic healthy food would be great too!

Each Tues. and Sat. produce is picked and garden maintenence  is.done. There will always be at least one member of the garden committee in the garden on these days and at the listed times to assist and direct any student volunteers.  (Students should never be alone in the garden.)  Work usually lasts from 90 min. to 2 hrs.
