Green Drinks Waukesha County Sustainability Plan

The Waukesha County Sustainability Plan is a guide for furthering the sustainability of Waukesha County’s internal operations and facilities. In Waukesha County, several sustainable opportunities exist in our roads and highways, parks and land use, and buildings. Through our sustainability efforts we carefully balance resource management with fiscal responsibility.

Shane Waeghe is the  Facilities Manager for Waukesha County Department of Public Works and holds a BS is Facilities Management and a Masters of Management in Organizational Development and Change. Shane joined the County staff in 2012 and enjoys the people and culture here. As Facilities Manager, Shane implements and evaluates systems for efficiency and continuous improvements in energy and sustainability.

Green Drinks events are always free and open to the public.

Join us for this community gathering, designed to share information about a variety of ways you can get involved. Whether you are interested in helping at the planning level or simply volunteering here and there, we have fulfilling opportunities for you.

Eco Justice Center Tour

The Permaculture and Gardening Group invites everyone to an Eco Justice Center Tour Saturday, June 24.
The Eco-Justice Center is an environmental education center founded and run by the Racine Dominicans. Organic gardening, beekeeping, raising araucana chickens, geese, ducks, rabbits, and caring for four goats and five alpacas are some ways that they are living in a mutually enhancing relationship with Earth and those who share this land with us.

1st Annual Green Alliance Sustainability Fair

When: Saturday, Aug. 25; 9 am-3 pm
Where: Lapham Peak State Park

The Sustainability Fair will be a community gathering of organizations and businesses with the intention of informing and engaging the citizens of Waukesha County about environmental sustainability. The Fair will include exhibits, presentations, and activities throughout the park targeting children through adults. The goal is to provide tools and information that make being sustainable approachable, fun, and economical.

Recycling opportunity!
Help Bethesda Elementary School win a new playground!
Colgate has partnered with Meijer and TerraCycle to bring Bethesda Elementary an opportunity to earn a new playground.

In order to win, the school must earn the most playground credits/votes by June 30, and they're asking for help from the community.

To participate, they're looking for the following items to participate in the recycling program:
Used toothbrushes
Empty toothpaste tubes and caps
Empty dental floss containers
Outer packaging for all of the items listed above

The last pickup for items will be on Thursday, June 22. Collection sites include: Bethesda Elementary, Good Harvest Market, and Petilicious Dog Bakery
